Kirsty Mackay
Kirsty Mackay (*1970) grew up in Glasgow, in a working-class district, which made her particularly sensitive to social injustice and inequalities. As a primary school student, she was encouraged by her teacher to take up photography. She studied photography at the University of Wales in Newport and mastered her skills, working with Heb Ritts, Nick Knight and Anton Cobijn. She is a photographer, video artist and social activist. In her projects, she explores themes related to political, economic, social and gender discrimination.
